Here are 7 informal insights about me.
I was born in Jerusalem and lived there for several years. My family was never fixed to one place. We often moved between cities, towns and villages. My parents believed that different environments will be a better fit for different stages in my early years and that there is no compromise on good education. Hence, we usually moved to areas with access to good schools.
Moving around was not so simple, but it taught me a lot. I had to learn how to adjust and fit-in quickly so I will not remain an outsider. Additionally, I had to keep an open mind and expect frequent new acquaintances and social interactions. These skills still serve me well nowadays when I am required to adjust to new situations or environments.
I grew up in a religious Jewish environment, ruled by traditions and rituals. As I grew up I have learnt to question this reality and look at things from my own perspective. I learnt to appreciate values over rituals and overall separate the wheat from the chaff.
I chose to keep on adding values and life wisdom from inspiring people and scholars without being bound to certain traditions or ancient rituals.
I am a very calm and composed person. Most of the people I know would say that I’m chilled and easy-going.
I enjoy joking around and trying to create a positive environment. Positive energy of others is something that really charges me up.
Focus more on IT and technology. Study hard, but don’t forget to celebrate life. Take calculated risks and make the most out of opportunities that come your way. Be helpful, but also know your limits and communicate them clearly.
The first time I left Israel was to go work on organic farms in Ireland. Back then, the economic situation was pretty bad and I was forced to leave Ireland earlier than expected. This resulted in a spontaneous trip in Western Europe and Scandinavia. After travelling around Europe I continued to Canada and traveled across the country for several weeks and then lived for a couple months in Vancouver. All in all I was travelling for 6 months.
During my travels I have seen many countries, experienced different cultures and overall fell in love with the idea of living abroad. To me it was only a matter of time, till I go back abroad to explore the world.
In any case, Vienna was never really on my list, and only my father introduced me to a possibility to complete my B.A. in Vienna in English. I found this opportunity very appealing and applied to the university in Vienna.
As I got accepted, I received also a scholarship for affordable accommodation and studies which made my decision to come to Vienna quite simple. Since then, for almost 7 years, I have been enjoying this wonderful city!
I love being active. Whenever it’s possible I will go hiking or travelling somewhere. Also I play basketball, beach volleyball or do some biking in the nature which surrounds Vienna.
Apart from that I have a strong sense to create and build things. I am a hobbyist content writer – writing mostly about travelling and attractions. In additional I like playing around with interesting Git projects in the AI field and implement/deploy them for fun.
My ambition is to create and truly add value to people’s lives. I constantly look for opportunities to fulfill this aspiration. To me it is clear that even a tiny bit of value added is a great way to make a tangible and meaningful difference. This ambition is a leading factor in my personal journey.
Value comes in many forms and shapes, whether by spreading knowledge, providing a service, a good advice or simply giving a helping hand. At my current job, for example, it is mostly about knowledge sharing. I took on myself to dedicate time after working hours to learn new work related subjects and present them to the team in various Up-skilling sessions. I find this activity beneficial and enriching.
